The Department of Marketing and E-Commerce was established in 2013, building on the foundations of the Department of E-Commerce (founded in 2001) and the Department of Marketing (founded in 2003). It currently offers two undergraduate programs—E-Commerce and Marketing—and enrolls master's and doctoral students in the three areas of E-Commerce, Marketing, and Management Information Systems.
The department is home to a high-caliber faculty of 22 members, including 10 professors (among whom are 10 doctoral supervisors) and 9 associate professors. The faculty boasts an impressive roster of academic talents, including:

Faculty members have published over a hundred papers in top-tier domestic and international journals, including Management Science, Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ), Information Systems Research (ISR), Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, and Management World. Furthermore, they have undertaken nearly thirty projects funded by the NSFC and the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC), alongside developing National Quality Courses. The department is dedicated to cultivating advanced, interdisciplinary innovative talents who possess solid theoretical knowledge in economics, management, and modern commerce, while being closely aligned with cutting-edge practices in the internet, big data, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, it aims to develop senior management professionals equipped with robust marketing theories and practical problem-solving skills. Graduates are highly sought after across various sectors, including IT, manufacturing, trade, logistics, telecommunications, banking, securities, consulting, education, and government agencies. Students from this department have consistently achieved outstanding results in national and international academic competitions.
The department houses the Nanjing University Research Center for Brand and Service Management and the Nanjing University Research Center for Social Commerce. It also has a modern management laboratory and has provided management diagnosis and consulting services to a number of renowned companies and institutions both in China and abroad. The department has established internship bases in collaboration with multiple institutions within Jiangsu Province and maintains long-term academic exchanges and cooperation with several overseas universities and academic institutions.
